Your timing belt and the components it relies on to keep tension are vital to the running of the engine. Should just one component fail or your timing belt snap then the consequences for your engine could be disastrous resulting in great expense to repair. This is perhaps even more applicable to Subaru's as the vehicles are generally driven harder and a greater demand is placed on the engine, therefore its important to choose your components wisely and certainly not a place to cut costs.

RCM Timing belt kits have been created to give you the exact same parts as originally fitted to your vehicle, with the only exception being your preferred choice of timing belt. Sourcing direct with the manufacturers enables us to offer the same high quality o.e  parts your car truly deserves but at a fraction of the original cost.

RCM 10MM MODIFIED OIL PUMP SEN13

At the heart of all Roger Clark Motorsport engine’s is the now world renowned RCMS Modified oil pump.

This clever, effective modification has been designed to assist the Impreza with it’s oil supply and is now regarded as a must have modification with any Impreza engine build. Each pump is carefully checked, given a serial number and then modified to incorporate a different pressure relief valve ensuring greater reliability and peace of mind to your Impreza engine.

Please note that flow rate remains unchanged.
Our oil pumps are supplied with a replacement front crank oil seal and oil gallery, black sealing o-ring. It is also recommended that you use 3 bond sealer (SGA35) to seal the oil pump to the block assembly.

The increasing popularity of track days and other such events coupled with the search for ever higher bhp figures has highlighted some alarming shortfalls in the standard sump fitted to the Impreza from the factory.

As most are aware the sump pan carries out a vital role, collecting and storing the engine oil before being distributed around the engine lubricating and cooling as it goes. Shortfalls in the standard sump arise when the cars are used on track where oil surge when hard cornering soon becomes a major problem. In simple terms oil surge is a result of the lateral forces being exerted on the oil pushing it to one side within the sump pan. The central positioning of the Imprezas oil pick up pipe can mean that under these conditions the pick up pipe can become starved of oil, often resulting in a major engine failure as the engine loses oil pressure thus placing extreme pressure on the bottom end components.

The RCM solution is a modified ‘baffled’ version of the standard sump pan which is designed to combat the effects of oil surge via a specially constructed hand made insert or ‘baffle’ fixed inside the standard sump. This insert dramatically improves the ability of the sump to hold oil around the oil pick up pipe, even under extreme cornering by restricting the lateral movement of oil around the sump. In addition to this the top deck of the baffle is fitted with four one way valves which allow oil returning to the sump to pass through but not pass back in the opposite direction when being moved around in the sump. The baffle insert also helps combat the unwanted ‘pooling’ of oil in the Impreza cylinder heads (which can often happen under high cornering loads as a result of the flat boxer engine layout).

Starting life as a genuine Subaru oil pan to ensure perfect fitment the RCM Baffled Sump is then re engineered removing much of the relatively ineffective standard internal shelving system and is then re manufactured to accept our specially designed removable Group N alloy baffle insert. This insert incorporates x4 heat and oil resistant nitrile one way valve flaps to keep the oil exactly where it needs to be even under hard cornering on track or during competition use. The RCM Baffled Sump kit also features an additional -8 boss for easy plumbing in of a return to sump hose from an oil catch tank system such as our RCM2030, RCM2031 and RCM2283. Supplied with full installation instructions , x14 genuine Subaru Sump bolts and one of our RCM Titanium Magnetic Sump plugs all pre lock wired and ready to go!

When thinking of purchasing any engine components (in particular a complete stroker kit) it becomes vital that you make your choices wisely. Building  a new engine, or rebuilding your existing engine is something you should only need to do once, therefore its important that you use components which are fit for purpose and will provide you with a solid foundation in which to increase power further down the line. With our stroker kits we offer just that:

• Subaru EJ25 Heat Treated Crankshaft

Manufactured by FHI Japan the Subaru Forged Crankshaft is a strong, reliable and proven component. The crank is induction hardened to be extremely resilient to wear and provides a great foundation for any performance engine.

• RCM / Omega Forged Piston Set

RCM have always chosen Omega as their preferred piston manufacturer, not only because of their extensive experience within motorsport but also for the incredible accuracy and attention to detail that is applied to every aspect of their manufacturing.

So why forged?

A forging is still the best way to manufacture a piston, not just from a production point of view but for the strength of the piston. There are certain areas where a piston machined from solid is marginally better than a forging but the strength benefits of a forging far outweigh any benefits of a fully machined piston. You get excellent grain structure when a piston is forged correctly, the way Omega do it. In a fully machined piston you don’t get any true grain flow structure as you are using the material as it is cut from the bar. When you forge the material you create optimal molecular alignment within the material coupled with their own in-house bespoke heat treatment and this is what gives the piston its strength.

CNC (Computer Numeric Controlled) machines are used to do most of the machining that turns a forging into a piston. When finished, the piston is sent to the quality control department to be measured. The quality control department is kept at a constant 20.5°C, important as pistons can expand by as much as 10 microns in sunlight. This way the pistons can also be measured for tolerance anywhere in the world, provided the same 20.5°C conditions are replicated.

The piston skirt is designed and machined to give a profile that works most efficiently when the engine is at full working temperature. Piston skirt profiles are not round but elliptical in shape and barrelled in length. The machining of the skirt is done on extremely accurate machines, capable of holding their repeatability down to 5 microns!

All RCM / Omega Pistons are individually weighed and batched to within 0.5 grams, which ensures that a set of four will have a tolerance deviation of no more than 2.0 grams. On large orders this means that it is not unusual to have a set of 4 pistons with only 0.1 gram deviation!

Both Gobstopper I and II have always used Omega pistons. With both cars developing over 700bhp (plus the additional option of nitrous oxide) and a rev limit of 10,000 rpm you don’t get a greater test for any piston. Omega pistons have always performed faultlessly even under the most extreme of conditions which is why when choosing our preferred manufacturer we wouldn’t look anywhere else.

• RCM / Arrow H Section Connecting Rod Set

Only the highest quality raw materials, the latest methods and the knowledge of superbly skilled designers and engineers goes into the making of every Arrow Precision Connecting Rod. The high strength RCM H Section Connecting Rod is carefully and precisely manufactured by these very craftsmen using a low sulphur Vacuum de-gassed nickel chrome alloy steel called EN24 in “V condition”, with a pined surface finish. Each rod is ultrasonically tested, crack detected and balanced to within a gram of each other before finally receiving the RCM seal of quality in the form of our laser engraved logo.

• Hardened steel backs on all rod bearings to improve the support of the bearing lining and assist with bearing retention in the housing.
• Increased crush for improved bearing retention
• Elimination of flash plating on the back of the bearings to improve heat transfer through the bearings and to maximize the grip between the bearings and its housing.
• Increased eccentricity to compensate for bore distortion at high rpm and to assist in the formation of hydrodynamic oil films.
